About Nicholas Herold, MPH

Portrait of the blog ownerNicholas Herold has a Master’s in Public Health with a focus on Policy and Program Management from Boston University, and a Bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University.

He has worked in health services as a direct care provider, administrator and program creator at the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, and worked in research and policy development at Health Care For All.

Herold has provided paid and pro bono consulting services in executive coaching, proposal writing, research, financial analysis, and legislative analysis. He has served on boards of many charitable organizations and a human rights advisory board for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

His long-time interest in making the world a safer place has generated this blog, in which he hopes to improve emergency preparedness and increase awareness of potential threats to our communities.

Logo of the MRCHe is a member of the Medical Reserve Corps, a community of trained volunteers who can be mobilized to provide and support public health services, such as staffing emergency shelters, vaccination clinics, and responding to disaster situations.

He is also a member of the Arlington, MA Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a FEMA-sponsored community resilience program that can be mobilized by community and regional emergency managers.

He has two college-aged children, likes to practice yoga and Vipassana meditation, play the guitar, go on long walks and hikes in the mountains, and bicycle in all weather.
